In 2006, as a result of a generous gift to the university, the Mary Fleigh Mackoul Endowed Fund began. The purpose of this scholarship is to "advance and promote the academic and curricular development of topics related to middle eastern studies with a focus on issues important to understanding the culture, politics, and religion of Arab nations and Arabic language."
The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University is pleased to announce that they are now accepting applications for the 2011–2012 Qatar Scholarship Program.
The Qatar Scholarship Program offers dedicated Arabic language students from the United States the opportunity to master their skills in an intensive Arabic language program at Qatar University in Doha for an entire academic year (September to June). The scholarship includes tuition, room and board in university dorms, round-trip airfare, local transportation, and books.
